Establishing in the Philippines
In 1955, amidst a boom in the Philippine economy, the Andres Soriano Corporation (ANSCOR) forged a partnership with Phelps Dodge International Corporation (PDIC). The merger brought together a common goal between the two corporations to provide the highest quality standards in electric wire and cable products manufactured in their plant located at Luisita Industrial Park, Tarlac, Tarlac. At the same time, the merger is geared towards building strong relationships with the customers, companies, and industries they serve.
The result was Phelps Dodge Philippines Energy Products Corporation (PDE). In 2007, PDIC became part of General Cable Corporation, forming an alliance that is now the second-largest wire and cable group in the world. PDE is proudly part of this global network, producing copper wires (building wires, power cables, communication cables, soudronic wires, automotive wires, etc.), as well as aluminum wires (building wires, bare aluminum wires, poly aluminum wires, etc.).
Today, Phelps Dodge Philippines Energy Products Corporation is a leader in the Philippine electric wire and cable industry, providing state-of-the-art products that facilitate communication and information technologies, more transportation and progress towards the goal of powering up the nation. Phelps Dodge also provides after-sales service to its customers by providing technical presentations, and thermal scanning, among others.
Although the company is already entrenched in the Philippine market with its copper wire product line, Phelps Dodge aims to grow the business organically by increasing its presence in the provinces, and in the price conscious segment of the market through its aluminum products. Aluminum serves as a product of its culture and innovation, and through the years, Phelps Dodge continues to develop world-class quality products that are attuned to the needs of its customers, allowing it to keep its leadership in the electric wire and cable industry.
“Our involvement with key institutions in the country – such as Transco, Meralco, PLDT, Ayala Land and Laguna Properties Holdings Inc., SM, Robinson’s, Medical City and the Philippine General Hospital – allows us the unique privilege of helping more the country forward through world-class products that adhere to global safety and quality standards and product innovations that put our customers first above all.”
