The conference in Region IV-B was held on October 15, 2015 in Puerto Princesa City and focused on the coco coir, carrageenan, rubber, and processed cacao industries.
In her opening remarks, DTI Regional Director Joel Valera emphasized the role that stakeholders from the region will play in localizing industry roadmaps and that the government and the private sector should work in coordination with one another.
Delivering the keynote on behalf of Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal, Jr., Assistant Secretary Rafaelita Aldaba highlighted the need to achieve inclusive growth and take advantage of the opportunities in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the country’s acceptance in the European Union’s Generalized System of Preferences Plus (EU GSP+). Asec. Aldaba stressed the importance of continuously increasing the competitiveness of Philippine industries to create more and better jobs for Filipinos, particularly in MIMAROPA.
