The conference in the Cordillera Administrative Region was held on May 28, 2015 in Baguio City and focused on the processed vegetables, coffee, and aerospace industries.
DTI-CAR Regional Director Myrna Pablo welcomed the conference participants. In her opening remarks, she stressed the need to localize the industry roadmaps by bringing together various stakeholders from the region. By localizing, RD Pablo said monitoring the implementation of local roadmaps becomes easier and the roles of stakeholders and accountabilities become more defined. RD Pablo also highlighted that the conference was very timely for CAR, considering that they have started preparing the Cordillera Coffee Development Plan. Thus, information gathered from the conference would be incorporated in the plan.
On behalf of Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal, Jr., Assistant Secretary Rafaelita Aldaba delivered the keynote for the conference. Asec. Aldaba emphasized the importance of linking agribusiness, manufacturing, and services; the collaboration between the private and public sectors; and the synergy between industry and the academe in order to enhance the country’s competitiveness, support local industries to move up their value chains, and achieve sustainable and inclusive growth in the country.
